The Buddhadharma says, “Everything is created by the mind.” Both good and negative karma originate from your mind. Consequently, it is you who must overcome the karma of illness. It is just like battling with your enemy; whoever is stronger will win. If your mind is weaker, then your enemy will defeat you. If the power of your mind is stronger, then you can defeat your enemy and eradicate your negative karma.

A single cause requires the help of many conditions in order for its effects to come to fruition. When the time comes and all the necessary conditions are present, there will certainly be an effect. What kind of effect? It depends entirely on the wholesome and unwholesome causes that we create, which yield the effects of suffering and happiness. If the time has yet to come, there might not be an effect.

At this time, you have to take a good, wise look at yourself. If, knowing that you have few virtuous roots and many karmic obstacles, you still do not practice strenuously to remove those obstacles, then when will you ever put an end to the cycle of birth and death? Keep this in mind! You must feel great fear of birth and death, and put in energy to practice diligently. Even though the process presents many difficulties, if you are willing to put in the effort, you will overcome them. Where there is a will, there is a way.

True Nature is the fundamental substance or body of all things. It manifests infinite phenomena according to causes and conditions. Such infinite phenomena make up the Ten Realms, which include Four Realms of Sages and Six Unenlightened Realms. The Truth at the Buddha’s level is the Buddha Nature. From the human’s perspective, the truth becomes human nature. The fundamental substance of the human mind is the ultimate nature—the Buddha Nature—which does not change; but the human mind does change in accordance with causes and conditions.

It is inevitable to have some attachments now. It is okay, as long as you do not become too attached. Do not get carried away about what is right and wrong, as this kind of attachment is a suffering.

Buddhism teaches the Law of Dependent Origination; as long as conditions are ripe and you act accordingly, you can achieve anything. On the other hand, if the conditions are not ripe, you will not get whatever you wish for. Everything is governed by this Law, which is the Law of Cause and Effect. You reap what you sow; this is a clear fact.
