Misfortunes are the results of our karmic offenses.
So we must frequently repent and prostrate to the Buddhas in order to remove these karmic obstacles. Once they are gone, your blessings will come.

One’s future fortunes depend on one’s views and actions. If you are a courageous person with noble character and have great wisdom, you will naturally practice the way of the sages to benefit yourself as well as others. If you only think of yourself in everything you do, or even harm people by fair means or foul in order to gain advantages, you will deplete your blessings and shorten your lifespan. Not only that, but you will also end up in the hells and the Three Lower Realms in the future.
