In the Western Pure Land, you will not regress,
Ultimately attaining Buddhahood in this life;
With one goal in mind, the vast sea of sentient beings sincerely vows,
To attain Bodhi for ourselves and others, once and for all.

In this world, we are like birds dwelling in the same forest and will fly away individually when our last moments arrive. I hope that we don’t wait till the last moment comes to fly or we will be very pitiable and hurried. We will be very busy, and it will be challenging work. We should get ourselves prepared when we’re at leisure, so that when the last moment comes, we can fly at ease to the Western Pure Land.

Earnest Buddha Recitation is to persistently recite the Buddha’s name with faith and determination. It is not only Buddhists who recite the Buddha’s name; non-Buddhists do so as well. How can ordinary people ever reach such a level? How then do they attain rebirth in the Western Pure Land? By means of utmost sincerity. The Buddhadharma works like this: “A small amount of sincerity yields a small response; a great amount of sincerity yields a great response.” Without sincerity, there will be no response; with utmost sincerity, there will certainly be a response. The response you get is like the sound of a large bell—if you strike it, it rings. If you hit it hard, it rings loudly; if you hit it lightly, the sound will be soft. If you do not hit the bell at all, it will not make any sound. The Law of Cause and Effect works exactly like this; it never fails. What you need to do is cultivate the cause to receive its corresponding effect. You have to believe this.
