Why should we seek out opportunities to serve others?
This is how we can eradicate our past karmic offences stemming from our arrogance and slighting of others. It is also an avenue for us to repay the karmic debt accumulated in past lifetimes due to our ignorance—not fulfilling our obligations, only indulging in pleasures and fighting for our own gain. Due to these past transgressions, we lack both blessings and wisdom in this lifetime and encounter many difficulties in life. That is why we should seek out opportunities to serve others, as doing so gives us a chance to cultivate our own blessings and wisdom.

A single cause requires the help of many conditions in order for its effects to come to fruition. When the time comes and all the necessary conditions are present, there will certainly be an effect. What kind of effect? It depends entirely on the wholesome and unwholesome causes that we create, which yield the effects of suffering and happiness.
