The Lotus Sutra says, “Even with scattered thoughts, when one enters a temple or a stupa and chants the Buddha’s name, they have realized the Buddha Way.” Sentient beings have many scattered thoughts, but the Buddha’s name is inconceivable and adorned with myriad virtues. By chanting this name, their scattered thoughts can be purified. That is why this extraordinary method is described as being so wondrous that it can turn stone into gold.
