While you chant here, the lotus flowers at the Eight Merits Pond will be growing fine and pure with wonderful fragrance. And that’s the “wonderful lotus”! When your last moment comes, Amitabha Buddha will come for you with your lotus flower, and you will go with him. If you do not chant the Buddha’s name, you will not have your own lotus flower there; that is how the Law of Cause and Effect works. The lotus flower will grow very well if you chant diligently every day, and it will wither away when you slack off. If you break percepts, the flower will die. It all has to do with the Law of Cause and Effect that flowers snap when you break precepts and flowers grow extremely fine when you chant well.
