Lingyen Mountain Fundraiser for the Food Banks in the Greater Vancouver area

In the Buddhist spirit of kindness, compassion, joy and equanimity, the temple held the second instalment of its Food Bank Fundraiser from February 15 to May 17, 2021, delivering everyone’s loving kindness to all parts of Greater Vancouver. Thanks to virtuous supporters from all Ten Directions, we collected $20,996 in donations which we used to purchase 15,181 lbs vegetarian food items. We equally distributed these to eight food banks in Burnaby, Richmond, Surrey, White Rock, South Surrey, Langley, Greater Vancouver and Coquitlam, to assist families who need help with putting food on the table. We prepared 10 large bags of rice, 30 bags of oat rice, 50 bags of Norquin Canadian Tri-Colour Quinoa, 174 boxes of canned corn, 174 boxes of tomato sauce, 1,248 bags of pasta, 1,080 boxes of oatmeal, 198 boxes of chickpeas, 36 boxes of juice, 18 boxes of peanut butter, and 53 boxes of fruit, adding up to 15,181 pounds of food in total. The temple’s Community-Based Organization representatives from Richmond, Vancouver, North and West Vancouver, Burnaby, Surrey and Coquitlam helped deliver the food to food banks all over the Greater Vancouver area. The temple continues to welcome everyone to donate to the Food Bank.
