Planted Expo Vancouver is the largest plant-based event in Canada this year. More than 200 booths participated in the two-day exhibition, held at Vancouver Convention Center on November 20th and 21st. Plant-based food and household product companies and organizations gathered together to share their ideas about the environmental and life-protecting benefits of a plant-based lifestyle.
Ever since its opening, Lingyen Mountain Temple has spared no efforts in promoting vegetarianism by providing vegetarian meals to the temple’s visitors, explaining the benefits of a vegetarian diet, and printing vegetarian recipe books. The theme of our booth this year was “Pure Taste, Pure Mind”. Visitors could ask for a divination, make a prayer, and obtain Great Compassion Water. Dharma treasures, including our vegetarian cookbooks, were available for everyone to take home.
By liking us on our official social media platforms, visitors also received a handmade Mung Bean Cake as a gift. Our kitchen volunteers also made vegetarian snacks such as Curry Pastries, Pineapple Cakes, Flower Jellies and Pan-fried Cedar Cakes to sell at the venue, along with other Buddhist artifacts. This event facilitated the exchange of ideas between Eastern and Western cultures about plant-based living, and encouraged more people to adopt a vegetarian diet and nurture their loving-kindness and compassion.
