Charity Relief for B.C. Flooding

The floods in B.C., which began on November 15, 2021, flooded homes in Abbotsford and other areas, and killed thousands of farm animals. Many of the major roads and bridges have been broken, and the flood waters have not yet completely receded. The reconstruction work ahead is still a long and arduous journey.

With the compassionate heart of “Loving Kindness and Compassion based on sameness in essence”, the Masters of Lingyen Mountain Temple initiated an internal fund-raising campaign. Based on the needs of the local residents, all the money collected was used to buy a lot of vegetarian food. On December 3, they personally drove to Abbotsford to deliver the food to the local food bank.

A volunteer who participated in this good deed also said, “When we arrived at the Archway Food Bank in Abbotsford, the staff at the food bank were in tears and expressed their deepest gratitude to us. These supplies were urgently needed to provide immediate assistance to the victims, especially in the coming cold weather. When we arrived at the church to place the supplies, the pastor said they were using the church as a temporary location for the supplies. Although some of the relief volunteers were also victims of the disaster themselves, they helped out with the relief effort. Through this charitable activity with the Masters, I was able to see for myself the suffering of the victims and realize the impermanence of the Saha World.”

With its founding principles of charity and peace, Lingyen Mountain Temple (Canada) continues to organize charitable donations to care for the needs of the community. The fourth instalment of the 2021 Fundraiser for the Greater Vancouver Food Banks is still in progress. We invite all virtuous people of the Ten Directions to join this cause.
