Mission:

Following Venerable Master Miao Lien’s compassionate vows and determination, Lingyen Mountain Temple, with its dedication to Pure Land practices, is a Buddhist monastery whose mission is to direct people to the Western Pure Land through the observance of precepts, the recitation of the Buddha’s name, and the cultivation of various meritorious deeds to benefit others. The temple provides an opportunity for Canadian youths to:

  1. Learn about foundational Buddhist theories and ethics, understand Karma and the principle of cultivating good deeds and refraining from bad deeds, and nurture their good nature.
  2. Learn about serving and helping others, keeping the temple clean, seeking blessings through hard work, and building positive affinity with others.
  3. Learn how to work harmoniously with others in a group environment through calmness, forbearance and humbleness; develop the supreme Bodhi resolve to help others succeed while not making distinctions between self and others.
  4. Learn how to apply Buddhist teachings in their daily lives to become contributing members of society and dignified Buddhist youths.
