Being vegetarian is compassionate and will lead to Buddhahood
How did the Buddha realize Buddhahood?
Through cultivating great compassion.
What is the greatest enemy to compassion?
Cruelty. While your mouth is chanting the Buddha's name, you still chew on the meat of sentient beings at the same time—how can you bear to swallow it? If you cannot even let go of this kind of desire for flavor, then you are still a complete layperson. Even after three great asankhyeya kalpas, you will still not be able to realize Buddhahood.
