Lingyen Mountain Temple (Canada) 23rd Anniversary Pilgrimage
“One prostration to the Buddhas eliminates offenses as numerous as the sands in a river. One prostration in pilgrimage eliminates offenses as many as the sands in an ocean.” After 4 years, the temple’s Anniversary Pilgrimage finally returned on September 4th, in hopes of bringing everyone inner peace and auspiciousness in midst of the pandemic.
The Masters led the pilgrimage in two sessions in the morning and afternoon, prostrating once every three steps in homage to Guan Yin Bodhisattva. MP Wilson Miao, MLA Teresa Wat, Mayor Malcolm Brodie, and City Councilors Bill McNulty, Chak Au, Alexa Loo, and Andy Hobbs personally attended the event and offered their best wishes to the public.
Even though it began to rain during the pilgrimage, the participants were not deterred by the weather. They continued to prostrate sincerely and steadily in their raincoats, and let the sweet dew cleanse their bodies and minds as they repented for past offenses. Together, the merits were dedicated toward the resolution of the pandemic, the flourishing of the Buddhadharma, peace and happiness for all sentient beings, and timely completion of the temple’s construction project. The temple prepared delicious vegetarian lunches and Noodles of Peace for all participants after the pilgrimage. Everyone was filled with the joy of the Dharma.
