With blessings from the Three Treasures and support from devotees, Lingyen Mountain Temple (Canada) is now in its 19th year. In celebration of this special anniversary, the Temple will be holding a series of events, including a Pilgrimage and a chanting retreat. The vast merits accrued will be dedicated to the completion of LYMT’s redevelopmen so that its mission to guide sentient beings will soon be fulfilled. As well, the merits will be dedicated to world peace, propitious climate, and the well being of all. We cordially invite your attendance.

On the day of the anniversary (9/19), we will be chanting the Great Compassion Mantra and the holy name of Guan Yin Bodhisattva to pray for blessings.

To celebrate the birthday of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, our temple will hold a “ Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva Dharma Service”. The Great Vow Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva is one of the four major Bodhisattvas. His compassionate vow profoundly affects not only the living, but also the departed. All merits accrued from reciting the sutras, chanting the Buddha’s name, and bestowing food will be transferred to our living relatives, to eradicate their karmic obstructions and increase their virtuous roots, and to our deceased relatives, to free them from suffering and to help them attain bliss, and to promote their rebirth in the Western Pure Land.

The “Offering to the Sangha” ceremony originated during the time of the Buddha. The last day of the Summer Retreat provides a compassionate opportunity for the sentient beings of the Ten Directions to seed the blessing field plentifully by making offerings to the Buddha and the Sangha.

Buddhism is much more than just meditation and karma. It is a life philosophy for everyday situations — both the mundane and not so mundane. Those who practice these time-tested Buddhist techniques internalize an indestructible inner state of absolute happiness that will serve them well in both good times and bad. Come learn and explore the theories and practical applications of Buddhism!

After the ground-breaking ceremony, we will host the Grand Meng Mountain Offering Service in the evening from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The service will help to transfer the auspicious merits to all sentient beings in the Ten Directions, hoping them to end sufferings and gain happiness. May all the living sentient beings accumulate blessings; may all the deceased be reborn in the Western Pure Land. We will also hope to pray for the peace of the world, the prosperity of Buddhadharma, and the comfort of the sentient beings.
